The UC Davis Biotechnology program was founded in 1986. The University offers one of the top bachelors level programs in the state and several other interesting training options. Students can enroll in short courses or enter the DEB program. The DEB (Designated Emphasis in Biotechnology) program allows Ph.D. students to receive credit for biotechnology training. The program is made possible by the UC Davis being awarded the NIH Training Grant in Biomolecular Technology. This is a prestigious grant that is only shared with UC Berkley and Stanford.
